Summer means camping & grilling out with the family.

Lisa Barringer July 10, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Summer means thinking back on the great memories of spending time with my cousins, playing in the pool, picking corn from Grandpa’s garden. It is also making new memories with family dinners, Dad BBQ’ing steaks (because he does it best!), Hubby talking with the in-laws and everyone pitching in to clean up after an awesome meal.

Cheryl July 10, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Summer means spending time with my grandchildren before they return to school. All of my grandchildren live far away from me in other states and I don’t get to see them very much. So, summertime when school is out is always a very special time for me to be able to spend with them. I’m especially excited about seeing my three grandsons who live in Phoenix, AZ. I have not seen them for two years. My husband and I have been stocking up on groceries because with three big boys in the house, we’ll be doing a lot of cooking. So excited!!

“Summertime and the livin is easy” My favorite rhyme from a song from long ago.
I love Summer because of the bounty of fresh produce (especially berries) and the leisure time I have to let my creative juices flow. I get to see my 4 grandkids more often and that is always a blessing.
We always have a “family picnic” in CA which brings over 100 of my relatives together. It’s so much fun.
Thanks….
Nettie

Summer time in our family has changed over the years. Now that they kiddos are grown. It’s the smell of the grill and sitting on deck, talking about college, making wedding plans for my oldest. The sticky fingers from the watermelon. Summer time is family time outside! It’s so fun walking down memory lane with my grown children as we sit on the deck and enjoy summer time.

LauraLee July 10, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Summer means cooking as much as possible on the grill, which means dad is cooking and mom gets a break. It is the time of year to have family and friends over for cook-outs, homemade ice cream, and a lazy day of sharing as well as making memories. It is almost a time to step away from the world.

Cheryl Klein July 10, 2012 at 4:13 pm

Summer means sharing meals and moments with the ones you love. No better way than to put your heart into your recipes and share them with family and friends. Why heat up your house when you can fire up the grill and spend time with friends while the food cooks itself!

Summer always represents something special to me because this is the season I was born in. My birthday is July 11th and, for me, Summer represents new life, hope, and happiness. There is no better season than Summer. Endless sunshine, waterparks, BBQ’s, picnics, summer love, vacations, flip-flops, short dresses, white sandy beaches, bonfires, roadtrips, friends and loved ones; Summer has it all. I could wax poetic all day about how great summer is and all the wonderful things you can do but I am pretty sure that space won’t permit so I leave you with a few quotes that completely sum up the beautiful spirit of Summer:
“One must maintain a little bittle of summer, even in the middle of winter.”
― Henry David Thoreau
“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”
― Henry James
“Summer’s lease hath all too short a date.”
― William Shakespeare, Shakespeare’s Sonnets

Thank you for the opportunity to enter this contest.
HAPPY SUMMER!

Summer means walking barefoot in the grass; the smell of chicken & burgers cooking on the grill; shucking corn outside; the sound of crickets chirping; the sun so warm on my skin; jumping into the pool; puffy, white clouds against a bright, blue sky… enjoying a slower pace of life for a few months!

Cindy Groppoli July 10, 2012 at 4:43 pm

Summer is a time to enjoy what I like doing and doing it with people I enjoy and miss being with during the school year. I work at school. These warm months I also have a garden that is thriving right now by the way! I planted seeds for tomatoes and peppers inside in a starter kit for the first time and kept 100 plants and gave many away.

Summer is when things fall in place, friends, family, food and fellowhip. Everything is at a slower speed. You can enjoy what is around you flowers, hummingbirds, birds and children playing in the yard. The sound of your neighbor mowing the lawn, the children screaming with laughter all are the sounds of summer. The slight squeak of the chain holding the swing on the porch.

Marie July 11, 2012 at 1:39 pm

What summer means to me:

Summer means spending time and having fun with family and friends. Great cook outs with everyone piling around the table out on the deck and laughing and having a good time while the sun sets. Making summer splashes in the pool. Spending time outdoors planting all the summer flowers and vegatables and watching them bloom and sitting on the front porch to enjoy from your hard work. Planning summer vacations to new places to explore that you’ve never been to. We have a state passport book to visit all the places in your state so, you do get to see different little hideaways and beautiful scenery that you didn’t know existed, which is always fun. That’s what summer means to me.
