Galentine's Day

Girlfriends. Other than sisters and family, they’re the most loyal, generous, and dependable people you’ll ever have in your life. Through thick and thin, they’ll stand by you through painful breakups, career successes, and pick you up when you’re feeling blue. Like a good bottle of wine, the friendship only gets better with time.

I honestly don’t know where I’d be with out my group of ladies. We “hold court”, have a standing date night every Tuesday, are just a speed-dial away, and are always there when anyone of us needs a really, really good hug.

A few weeks ago I watched an old episode of Parks and Recreation called, “Galentine’s Day.” In the episode Leslie Knope, played by Amy Pohler, hosts a party for her female friends the day before Valentine’s Day. She called it a great “self-esteem builder” and fun way to celebrate each other.

Watching the episode, I fell in love with the idea.  A day to honor and truly cherish the ladies who mean the most in my life. So tonight, I’m hosting my own version of “Galentine’s Day,” complete with a few good bottles of Cabernet, some fresh, Aldente pasta, and bowl after bowl of chocolate of quality chocolates.

So while tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, a day dedicated to cupid, conversation hearts, and secret admirers, tonight it’s all about those wonderful, goofy, loyal girlfriends in your life.

Here are a few easy Galentine’s Day-worthy recipes, perfect for the ladyfriends in your life.
