The holidays mean it’s time for planes, trains, and automobiles, and the stress that is holiday travel. With trips to grandma’s house looming ahead, the thought of nourishment for those long road trips come to mind. Let’s be honest, fast food is OK in a pinch – but it’s not healthy and really isn’t that reliable. Plus, no one wants to show up at their destination smelling like a greasy hamburger.

I’ve put together a list of scrumptious treats that travel well, capture the flavors of the holiday season, and pack a healthy punch so you’ll arrive at your destination nourished and not guilty about downing a double cheeseburger before dinner.

What are some of your favorite on-the-go snacks? What do you take with you to hold you over during the holiday travel season?

This is exactly what I was looking for! Special thanks for the Gluten free recipes too. I’ve had trouble finding enjoyable snacks since I was diagnosed with Celiac’s, so I’ll definitely be giving these a try. I have everything else taken care other than the food. The car has been serviced, and I don’t have to worry about the kid’s entertainment now that I have the TV Everywhere service from my employer, DISH Network. It lets me stream my programming (all of it, DVR and live content), anywhere I go, to my iPad, Smartphone, Laptop etc. and the picture looks great! So this way the kids will be able to sit quietly (hey I can hope) in the backseat watching movies. And the whole thing was really easy to set up, and there aren’t any additional monthly fees. Sorry, I’m not trying to sound like a commercial, but I love this service and I’ve been raving about it every chance I get.
