The holidays are a time for lights, glitter, and family. Smiles around the dining room table as dad carves the turkey, giggles as Aunt Lou plays carols on the piano, and sighs of content as everyone gathers around a roaring fire.
It’s also a time for those treasured and often well-worn cookbooks. I love sitting on the floor, surrounded by my favorite books, scribbling down various holiday recipes. But it looks like I’ve got three new books to add to my collection: Taste of Home 2011 Holiday & Celebrations, Taste of Home Baking, and Taste of Home Cookies. With so many gorgeous recipes, these books just might replace my old standbys.
Taste of Home Cookies is probably the most playful of the three books. With over 200 recipes and helpful hints, I’m pretty sure Santa won’t make it back up the chimney. Not to mention there are 12 different recipes for using sugar cookie dough!
If you’re looking to live the sweet life, then break open the new Taste of Home Baking book. With over 786 mouthwatering recipes and gorgeous photos, you’ll have a hard time trying to decide between brownies, pies, or cookies for your holiday gathering. Plus, the helpful tips and problem-solving pointers will make you the best baker you can be.
Finally, for holiday lovers everywhere, there’s the 2011 Holiday & Celebrations. It makes celebrating the holiday season an absolute breeze. This book has everything you need, from hearty main dishes to lip-smacking desserts. And don’t forget the decorations! Be inspired with their pretty table settings and eye-fetching centerpieces. It will be a holiday season your friends and family won’t ever forget.

For Thanksgiving… pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake.
I am looking forward to making a Lemon Cheese Braid that my family Begs For! The original recipe was from Taste of Home many years ago. It is still a tradition in our family!

I have been really looking forward to Thanksgiving! I started in October buying pumpkin and making pumpkin dip, pumpkin bars and a Gingerbread Pumpkin Trifle! Mmmmm! I am looking forward to making some pecan pies and my daughters are just starting to get old enough to help. I am excited about savoring the memories and delicious food while surrounded by lots of family!
I always make a variety of special cookies to give away to some special friends, family & neighbors at Christmas time. Everyone enjoys the homebaked treats. I once made some Christmas mouse cookies for the treat boxes, & the kennel where I boarded our pets got a box & saved the mouse to display at the front counter. They thought it was too cute to eat!
(When it’s gardening season, I also deliver my fresh salsa & a bag of chips to a lucky few.) This holiday season, I want to find the best Popcorn Ball recipe & include some for my recipients. My Mom always made great, chewy Popcorn Balls during the holiday season, but unfortunately, she has passed & I don’t know her recipe or tips. I have printed some recipes from the internet & will hope I chose the best one.
Stuffing, cheesecake pie, pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie, & cherry pie….We love our pies!!!!
Before the holidays are over I will be making veggie pizza and peanut butter pie. Everyone loves these two things I make plus my crock pot mac and cheese!!!
Looking forward to getting together with my sister and stepmom to make cookies for our troops!!!!!! We worked from sun up (a little before actually) until sun down last year!!!!
I would LOVE to win these cookbooks! I can’t wait for the holidays to begin baking!!
Lots of different cheesecakes- I give them away as gifts!
I am looking forward to making my crescent dinner rolls! I have been making them since I was first married 19 years ago. I have finally found a way to make them perfect every time. I make over 10 dozen, pre-bake them, and then freeze them so all I need to do is brown and serve them right before the meal is served. These dinner rolls are the BEST EVER, even though they are time intensive. But working with yeast is a pleasure. Who can resist home made bread? Since I am now gluten free, I will have more to share!
My family looks forward to my layered Cranberry Eggnog Gelatin Salad which is only made during the holiday season.
I’m looking forward to trying some new recipes this year, especially candy!
But the old favorites (molasses cookies, the new and improved peanut butter cookies, cake mix cookies for cookie trays) are still on the top of my list!
basically we enjoy cheesecakes, apple pies and pumpkin soup!!
I love to make Pumpkin Pie Cake for Thanksgiving. I made it for work last year and it was a huge hit…in fact, a few colleagues decided to have that instead of pumpkin pie. It’s a Mr. Food recipe and we love it !!!
I always make homemade caramels each year. But I think I have more fun making chocolate truffles in a variety of flavors and coatings.
I can’t wait to make Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese frosting! YUM!!! <3
