I recently baked my first batch of peanut butter cookies for my boyfriend who had just wrapped up his first round of tests in med school. I bought the biggest jar of crunchy peanut butter I could find and went to work. The kitchen was filled with the smell of peanut butter and chocolate, as my mixer whirled to life. I found it difficult to restrain myself from tasting the cookie batter before I got them on the pan.
The cookies were soft, gooey, and perfect. My boyfriend nearly ate the entire plate, followed by a half-gallon of milk. With a satisfied sigh he leaned back in his chair and smiled, “These cookies remind me of second grade and little Mattie Deuker. She always brought peanut butter cookies on snack day.”
