Halloween really isn’t my holiday. I’ve never been good at coming up with elaborate costumes, and awkward house parties with strangers in masks just really isn’t my idea of a good time. For me, Halloween isn’t fun unless you’re a kid and can walk up and down the neighborhood, squealing with delight, as you knock on doors screaming, “Trick-or-Treat!” Now, I’d much rather sit at home with a big bowl of chili watching It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, handing out candy to little goblins who knock on my door.
But this year I’ve somehow roped myself into co-hosting a Halloween party with a friend of mine. She promises it will be a small affair, just a few close friends, but costumes are mandatory. Eek! Costumes! While I may be struggling with a disguise for the evening, at least I’ve got the perfect beverage: bubbly, frothy Witches’ Brew. This tart beverage features kiwi, mint, and fizzy ginger ale for a tempting concoction that no one can resist.
So to all you ghosts, goblins, and witches, I say to you, Happy Halloween! Enjoy this night of spooky delight.
