Sangria

Happy Friday!! While it may have been a short week, I think we’re all in definite need of a refreshing summer cocktail. After a busy 4th of July weekend, and a week trying to play catch up, it’s time to sit outside and enjoy a slow weekend.

What better way to enjoy the end of a work week than with a pitcher of crisp, fruity sangria. Filled with slices of strawberries, peaches, and oranges, this sangria is ideal for a relaxed get-together. Serve this sweet cocktail with your favorite chips and salsa.

Topsy-Turvey Sangria

1 bottle (750 milliliters) merlot
1 cup sugar
1 cup orange liqueur
1/2 to 1 cup brandy
3 cups lemon-lime soda, chilled
1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
1 medium lemon, sliced
1 medium orange, sliced
1 medium peach, sliced
Ice cubes

Directions

In a pitcher, stir the wine, sugar, orange liqueur and brandy until sugar is dissolved. Stir in soda and fruit. Serve over ice. Yield: 10 servings (3/4 cup each).
