Royal Wedding Viewing Party

As the Royal Wedding gets closer, I find myself becoming more and more excited. What will Kate wear? How tall will the cake be? What will Harry say in his Best Man speech? More importantly, what will be served for dinner?

While I’d love to be a guest at the royal nuptials, I’m going to have to settle for hostess of my own Royal Wedding Party. I have my DVR set to record roughly 6 hours of coverage, and my girlfriends are coming over that evening to watch and swoon over the dresses, hats, and Prince Harry.

Taking note of the cocktail hour that is being hosted by HM Queen Elizabeth II, I’ve decided to serve two-bite appetizers and a deliciously fizzy champagne punch. In keeping with British tradition there will be Cornish Pasties, Smoked-Salmon Canapés, and Lemon Tea Cakes.

For anyone who will be waking up early to watch the big event, might I suggest some scones and a pot of tea. Both are sure to help you stay awake as you take in the royal hullabaloo.

Will you be watching the Royal Wedding? Are you having a little get together with friends to take in the splendor? If you were the chef, what would you serve to Kate and William?

You bet I’m getting up early to watch the wedding. There are not many things I’d rise that early for (3 am central time) but with such a grand reason for celebration, I wouldn’t want to miss a second. This was a lovely post and your recipes look like a royal feast!

I’ll be getting up early too! But it will be 2 a.m. here in Mountain time. I’d love to do scones and tea but I think I’m going to have to settle for some chai lattes and a few chocolate chip cookies. Funny thing is…I’m English. I even have a duchess as a great-grandparent but I’m way too American now. But got to love the royal wedding of the century. I was 11 years old for Charles and Diana and got up early for that so the little princess in me can’t wait. Besides, my toddler will probably be up with me anyway.

Have an English potluck at work in celebration. Recording the wedding, then cocktail hour to watch.
