Baking In A Jar

So I’m either on top of the current food trends or I’m way behind the curve. Either way, I’m all about this fun concept of baking in jars.

Pies, cakes, rolls – there are so many fun options when it comes to jar baking, and it’s pretty easy too. They’re perfect for dinner parties, showers, or even gifts.  Here’s a round-up of some tasty and pretty treats in a jar. Enjoy!

Looking forward to reading more about “baking in jars”. I am always looking for new ways to recycle.

I am not sure what the point is for baking in jars. Is it as a way to use jars that otherwise would go in recycling? I can and freeze produce in jars, but they are specifically made for that purpose. Even with those, I occasionally have one break. I wonder about the heat resistance of jars not specifically made for that. What is your experience with this?

In response to Cyndy: My mother used to save every kind of jam jar and mayo jar and peanut butter jar. The standard canning lids fit on these and she used these for canning her own foods. We never had anything break due to heating. I’m sure the 350 degree oven isn’t any different than the boiling products that went into the jars. I’m sure they should be fine as being heat-resistant.

Is it possible to store these after baking? freezer? shelf life? etc?
Thanks!

I bake pumpcan cakes in a jar, seal them & they last FOREVER, stored upside down – no icing. I had 1 batch go sour on me & don’t know why but everyone likes the taste & the novelty!
