One of my good friends is getting married this weekend. I’m so excited to see her all gussied up in a white dress, taste the wedding cake, and dance all night long. Plus, I bought a pretty dress of my own that I can’t wait to wear. Should be a fun time.
When it comes to a wedding weekend, the rehearsal dinner is the night before the big day at a fancy-shmancy restaurant. Well, instead of the traditional sit down affair, my friend is having a bon fire! She said she’s probably going to be so stressed out, that she wanted something more cozy and laid back. I couldn’t agree more.
Since she’s going for the comfort angle, my friend asked me to “cater” the whole event. Oh my goodness! I’ve been thinking about what to make all week! Luckily, some friends here at Taste of Home had some great suggestions and I think we’ve come up with a pretty outstanding menu.

I wanted to serve foods that represent fall and that warm, fuzzy feeling that goes with the season. I’m planning on serving heaping bowls of Black Bean ‘n’ Pumpkin Chili.

For dessert, juicy apples dipped in homemade caramel and salty peanuts. I love Carnival Caramel Apples.

I wanted to make sure we had something to munch on as we sat around the fire and told stories, so last night I made a batch of this Maple Butter Spiced Popcorn from TheKitchn.
