In case many of you didn’t know, it’s Homecoming season! This means football, dances with pretty dresses, cheerleaders, and lots and lots of face paint.
I went to an all-girls high school, so my Homecoming experience was a little different from the norm. We had a spirit week where we’d have to dress a certain way each day. Our dance wasn’t formal – it was kind of like a big mixer where the boys from our brother school were in attendance. And, since we didn’t have a football team, the Juniors and Seniors battled it out on the field in the big Powder Puff game. I’m happy to say that my class of ’04 won both our junior and senior year.
Even though I didn’t have a traditional Homecoming experience, I will say that we ate a lot of traditional Homecoming food.

My favorite is the Beer Cheese in a Bread Bowl. It’s the perfect dip for veggies or pieces of rye bread.

I also love Grilled Honey Mustard Brats. They’re great right before the “big game.”

My mom has a thing for Popcorn Caramel Crunch, and she’s had a bag at every single Powder Puff game. She says the combination of salty and sweet is a must when watching her daughters battle it out on the field.
