Ah yes, the 4th of July. In my family, the holiday is more than just a celebration of our country’s independence. It’s my little sister’s birthday. For years we’ve held an annual 4th of July party in our backyard, complete with a snow cone machine, face painting, birthday cake, and long buffet tables covered with delicious recipes.
Even though my mom and neighbors would set out a wide array of dishes, my favorite thing to eat has always been the burgers. I think the reason I love them so much is because I can tailor them any way I want – unlike my Aunt Daria’s slaw (shudder). Just put a juicy burger on my plate with a fresh bun and point me to the burger bar.
With so much great produce in season and wide selection of cheeses, it’s easy to build a fantastic burger. Don’t believe me? Check out the wild burger recipes from the Cheese & Burger Society. Crazy, huh?
So, with the 4th of July just days away, I’ve decided to share with you some of my all-time favorite burgers.

First up, this delectable BBQ Bacon Burgers recipe. With a slice of bacon inside and a tasty barbecue-mayo sauce on top, these are definitely not ordinary burgers. Top it with your favorite cheese and voila! You’re in burger heaven.

Next up, the All-American Loaded Burgers recipe. Ground beef is dressed up with zesty Italian dressing then topped with sharp Colby cheese, fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and crunchy fried onions. Tip: you might want to wear some gym shorts when eating this monster.

I know we’re talking about burgers, but if you’re looking for something a little lighter, try this mouthwatering Southwest Burgers recipe. Stuffed with black beans, green chilies, corn, and topped with pepper jack cheese, this burger packs a spicy kick while being easy on your waist line.

And last, but certainly not least, the mighty Paul Bunyan Burger recipe. This burger is not for the faint of heart. Stuffed with sauteed mushrooms, crispy bacon, and American cheese, the Paul Bunyan will chop down even the hungriest of eaters.
